Ray Wang Cupertino

Let's take back the city and make it resident focused!

Dear Neighbor,

I’m Ray Wang, candidate for Cupertino City Council. As the CEO of a successful technology advisory firm, you might recognize me from major news outlets like CNBC and Bloomberg. As a former Cupertino Planning Commission Chair, I’m also passionate about our community. I’m committed to addressing Cupertino's challenges, and will work to drive positive change as a City Councilmember.

You might wonder, why are some former mayors constantly attacking people who read and ask questions?

Why are they hiding the fact that Hung Wei helped to upzone the entire city so that inappropriate density can be placed in your neighborhood?

And why are they now parroting the positions of Councilmember Kitty Moore and me while concealing their own actions?

Developer dollars attempted to entice former politicians like Rod Sinks with dreams of a two-million square-foot office complex that would densify one area of Cupertino to ten times more square footage than the former mall. And yet they claimed it was all about delivering housing.

They relentlessly attacked me and others based on the greed of those dollars. Now, they are making the same claims, except that plan is not economically viable because office space in our area has undergone a sea change of status. While they continue to blame us for an empty Vallco site, the fact is that no one wants to build two-million square feet of empty office space these days.

In December of 2014, Rod Sinks, Gilbert Wong and Barry Chang were all council members who voted to remove all height restrictions at Vallco and allocate 2 million square feet of office space.  These decisions resulted in literally all of the subsequent turmoil over Vallco.  In fact, the decision to remove the height restriction has allowed the developer to build 200-plus ft towers on the ex-Vallco site."  A consequence of their poor decisions.

The candidates my opponents endorsed in the last election eliminated Cupertino's Economic Development Committee and Environmental Review Committee. Now, their desperate last resort is to pretend to have our same priorities (while attacking us constantly).

For example, you may have seen the “Save Our Neighborhoods” phrase and signage, which was created independently by residents who support Kitty Moore and Ray Wang. Now, my opponents have stolen their work and even gone so far as to infringe illegally on the copyright of this resident in a recent email. The original creators of the signage and slogan cannot believe the blatant IP theft perpetrated by several ex-mayors of Cupertino.

We believe that progress follows honesty – not blind greed, gaslighting and failure to do the work.

We need to turn the page on political gamesmanship and inept governance. This is not about bullying residents or constantly criticizing others.

Responsible and successful governance is about listening to you, the voter, studying the materials, and asking questions without fear of reprisal. That is how we build real and sustained success. We open the door to a community-wide, intelligent, honest dialogue, even and especially with those who only want to attack and self-aggrandize.

Residents Deserve Integrity and Shared Success. Residents Deserve Better.

Vote for Kitty Moore and Ray Wang.

In Friendship,

Ray Wang

Please vote number 1 (Kitty Moore) and number 5 (Ray Wang) on your ballot statements.
